Joint forums meet at Akamba 25th April

Posted: 2 May 2010

On Sunday 25th April members of the EPS met with fellow exotic plant enthusiasts from other very popular exotic plant forums for the first nursery visit of the year. After such a hard winter I think many of us will be keen to get both inspiration from such visits as well as some fresh plants for our gardens.

Whilst this past winter has been hard for I think almost all of us it does allow us to think again perhaps of what plants we might want to try in our gardens, given we probably have a little space we didn't plan on getting after the past winters losses.

As always the Guys at Akamba made everyone welcome with their usual hospitality and a further discount on the day off purchases always provides that extra incentive if you are wavering over a purchase!!!

If the plants didn't tempt then the chance to stock up on African themed goodies is an extra and welcome bonus as they fit so well into the exotic garden look. The metal animal sculptures as always are just amazing to see.

A couple of pictures taken by Lucien on the day show the flavour of the nursery.

The meet gave everyone a chance to chat about plants and the effects of the winter on their plants as well as the opportunity to swap small plants, cuttings and seeds which is always an exciting part of any meet.

Don't forget that after our Kew meet on May 15th you can head to the nearby Palm Centre and we also have the meet at Amulree nursery in Norfolk later in May. Also on 24 May in The Netherlands is : Exotenruilbeurs op de Loswal te Haps.
