The objectives of the society are to promote in a scientific and educational way by means of the French language, the study of Arecaceae, their distribution and culture as well as their preservation.
To provide a means for French speaking scientific personalities, engineers, horticulturalists, professionals and amateurs to participate and share information and ideas through their work and submission of interesting and educational contributions.
To contribute to the progression of scientific research by all possible means.
To organize action and information to promote public awareness about this outstanding family
To commit to actions for protection in partnership with appropriate organisations (UICN, CITES)
To supervise and arrange expeditions/visits to see and discover palms for the members by means of garden and habitat visits or adapted journeys (Biennials)
To encourage palm culture in the spirit of conservation through in-situ or ex-situ methods, respecting the legislation of the country or department.

New members are welcome and I would encourage anybody interested to take a look at the societies excellent website.
